In the 21st century, where knowledge is a resource of great import, a significant proportion of the younger generation of the Nepali populace, are devoid of a sound education. There is a dire need to work towards empowering the children with knowledge and information.

With the vision of assisting in creating a lasting change in Nepal, Society for Open Nepal (SFON) was created. SFON is a dynamic result-oriented organization that is committed to provide impetus in transforming Nepal into a knowledge-based Open Society. Its grants are focused on projects for education, science & technology, and health.

SFON is a secular and non-partisan non-profit organization that adheres to the highest standards of professionalism and transparency on all operational and financial matters.
